Apologies: None

Prof. Mike Preston in the chair. - Apologies for late change of venue.

1.Copies of minutes of last AGM held on 15th September 2007 were read and approved.

2.Matters Arising – to follow.

3.Chairman’s Report:

This has been a fairly quiet year as far as the Heritage Group is concerned. We have carried on selling books and prints – launched Ambrose’s book on his birthday – received recently an order from Midland Counties of eight books – about 450 books have been sold. Not selling as quickly as previous book, of which over 1,000 have been sold.
We have special offers for sets of prints. Books and prints offer at £30.00 per set – three of which have already been sold. Copies of books and prints sent to “Flypast” magazine – they have published a good article in this month’s edition. “Aeroplane” will publish similar in their next edition. Copy to RAeS – for a review; copy to “Pilot” magazine.
We have made five presentations over the past twelve months to local history societies, and a further one is to be done on 1st December to Nottingham Historical Society.
We are still represented on the main Auster Committee. Most work done on the internet.
The main Auster Club has organised a number of fly-ins = the main AGM will be at Sywell.
A very good website this year arranged by Ian Pawson. Anyone with information re Austers please contact Ian. Information available on the website re next year’s fly-in.
Most of the photos on the website are from Mick Ames. Fly-in at Rearsby 1997, Mk.11. etc. on the website.
Changes about how we pay our subscriptions.

4. Treasurer’s Report:

Prof. Preston presented a copy of the year’s accounts. We have £5,110.59 in hand – most of this from books and prints – the books sell quite well on the internet. Thanks to Mrs. Preston who looks after the sale of books and prints. There is an additional £120, worth of sales this week.
We would still like to publish Les Leetham’s book possibly next year – if so some money will need to be spent on doing this.

5. Election of Officers:

Mr. Hallam proposed that the committee be re-elected en bloc, and this was seconded by
Mrs. Woodcock.

6. Report of Main Group:

Mr. Trevor Jarvis said that many changes had taken place in the main committee over the last few years as regards committee and administration of aircraft etc. Mr. Jarvis is now treasurer and Mr. Peter Gill is now secretary. The main committee is always struggling to recruit new committee members.

7. Sales of goods – difficulties with payment etc.

Austers now on permit to fly instead of the C.of A. system seems to be working fairly well –
Possibly see more Austers flying because of the new rules.
The weather this year has spoiled many fly-ins – most successful was the fly-in at Coventry where approximately fifteen aeroplanes came in although it was a very windy day. The website events page will show next year’s fly-ins etc.
We need workers to help in the running of the club.

8. 70th Anniversary:

It is nearly seventy years since Taylorcraft started – there have been a number of proposals for next year to celebrate the 70th anniversary – a fly-in to Radcliffe was proposed but the College will not allow this – the land has been rented to Forestry Commission and trees have been planted. We are trying to fly-in to Rearsby – the farmer, Peter Palmer, will allow us to fly-in either 6th or 13th September – Peter Gill, Secretary main Auster group, is agreeable to this. We have written to the owner of Rearsby Business Park, Ivor Vauighan, explaining the situation, and asking him to be involved in the event. There is a £5 million insurance cover on the aeroplanes. If we stay overnight it would be good to take advantage of the facilities available – we are trying to obtain co-operation from all involved. It would be a good idea to arrange the Heritage Group AGM at this time – Rearsby Village Hall is available. A query regarding the re-build of the village hall – it hoped to be re-opened in May. Mrs. Woodcock would contact the chairman of the hall committee re its plans.

9. Future Events:

As mentioned in the Treasurer’s Report we would like to publish a third book based on Les Leetham’s – we have photographs to incorporate in this book. This would give a different view of Austers from the two previously published books. We have some information from a resident in Queniborough. Mr. Ames is working on a book if photographs which we hold – would like to publish in the form of an “E” book and put on the website. Would it be possible to take aerial photographs of the fly-in and take some videos of the same event into an Auster year book?

10. Any Other Business:

Special prices for prints - £2. each or £10. per set
Special price for set of books and prints - £25.

Thanks to the rest of the committee.

Mr. Hallam thanked Michael and Beryl Preston for their hospitality in the committee meetings. Meeting closed at 3.50,p.m.
